How is sales tax calculated (when calculated automatically)?

GunTab automatically collects sales tax from the buyer in certain circumstances. The sales tax formula is: Taxable Amount x Sales Tax Rate.

Taxable Amount: Either the merchandise price alone, or the merchandise price plus the shipping amount, depending on law that applies to the shipping destination.
Sales Tax Rate: The locality-specific rate provided by our third-party data source. Determined using the shipping destination (which might be the buyer’s address or the buyer’s gun dealer, depending on the transaction).

What if automatically calculated sales tax seems incorrect?
